The Hotel El Diezmo contracted me to design and oversee construction and design of the hotel swimming pool. Taking advantage of the sloping landscape, the pool has three separate areas: a wading pool, kids´pool, and lap lane. The locally quarried orange cantera stone does not heat up, making the pool area comfortable to traverse barefoot; meanwhile, the design uses two solar energy systems to take advantage of the ample sun of Mexico´s Bajio region. Solar panels heat coils in the walls and floor of the pool, and separately heat the pool water, keeping guests warm on the windy plains of San Jose Iturbide.
