Mariana González Jáuregui Prida (Mariana GJP) was born in 1979 in the Distrito Federal of Mexico, now Mexico City. She grew up in Mexico City and in the states of Veracruz and Querétaro. Trained as an architect at the Instituto Tecnológico de Querétaro, she works concurrently across a wide spectrum of scales—from small sculptures and handmade utilitarian objects, to furniture, to residential architecture—and uses close investigations of texture and materiality to explore the relationships between the domestic built environment and the natural world.
