A continuation of my interest in the way that materials respond to one another within sculpture, this series combines concrete and pigment, shaped by metallic and glass casts of found objects. One form is molded from a broken glass bell, one a metal container used for importing meat from Spain to Mexico, and another metal container used for importing Hershey´s chocolate from the United States to Mexico. The use of pigment in the wet concrete aims to expand the aesthetic appplications of concrete, moving from austerity to playfulness; more recently I have been connecting photographs of the sculptures into short cartoons, using the movements of the forms´antennae to animate their personalities.
