GOMICHELA TABLE
The Gomichela Table buids on my artistic and architectural explorations combining concrete, wood, and metal (here, steel), as well as my experiments with pigmented concrete. One of the table´s prototypes has a dark wooden frame and a dyed concrete top, with steel trim; a second has a slim glass top and steel frame; the one I use in my own kitchen combines glass and plywood. Its form takes cues from midcentury modern furniture, especially French designer Jean Prouve; its name is inspired by the gomichelas, or gummy bear-filled beers, that are a specialty of Tepito, the neighborhood of my workshop.
